Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona boasts incredible architecture throughout an impressive city right on the beach. If you get tired of eating tapas and wandering Museu Picasso and Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, just take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea. You absolutely must visit the Basílica de la Sagrada Família; note its hauntingly beautiful and detailed chiseling on the outside and rainbow accents on the inside. Don’t miss the iconic Arc de Triomf de Barcelona, a giant picturesque arch, and Banker del Carmel, an overlook of nearly the entire city in three directions.

Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville, Tennessee

You don’t necessarily have to leave the states for an eclectic cultural experience. Music City houses 120 live music venues, and many of the shows are free! Be sure to visit the Frist Center for the Visual Arts; the full-scale replica of the Parthenon; and Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art.

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal

The only problem with Lisbon is that you might fall in love with it and want to stay. That’s not the worst thing that can happen; it’s considered one of the best places to live on a budget. That makes it a popular community for artists, so new galleries are always popping up, and events are always happening. Be sure to look up the Village Underground, a hub for artists comprised of an event venue, a coworking space, and a cafe. Don’t miss the 40 thousand pieces at Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and the most visited Portuguese museum ever, Museu Nacional dos Coches.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark

The colorful buildings and sleek boats lining the water in Copenhagen make wonderful subjects for photographs and paintings. So this city is a great place to hone your craft and create unforgettable artwork. Copenhagen also offers an interesting community of up-and-coming artists in part thanks to support from The Danish Arts Foundation. Don’t miss Glyptoteket, a museum of both ancient and modern art, and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, one of Europe’s biggest exhibition spaces for contemporary art.

Paris, France

Paris, France

Paris is home to one of the world’s most famous museums, the Louvre, which used to be a royal fortress. Less-known but still must-see museums include Yvon Lambert, Galerie Xippas, and La Maison Rouge. While you’re there, you will, of course, want to get your own photos of this incredible city. Besides the obvious photo we all know you’ll take of the Eiffel Tower, here are some other top photography locations. To capture Paris at sunset, visit the Top of Montparnasse Tower. Or, capture the movement of the city with a long exposure of passing cars and people at a pedestrian crossing close to the Arc de Triomphe down the Champs Elsyees.
